On February 18th and 20th, we shared the stage with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, directed by Thomas Wilson, for the Colorado Springs debut of "Ring of Fire," an original three-movement orchestral piece written by our own Kevin McChesney.
Practice, practice, practice, even without our bells! Susan getting the "trash" table ready and all of us getting last-minute direction from Kevin. Our first performance was held at Broadmoor Community Church. The selection "Carmen" was our encore piece and Michelle, Kim, and Shelley stood at attention while the rest of us played the march. Listening to Kevin read our first "review" in the Gazette newspaper. It was a good one! Our Sunday afternoon performance was held at First Christian Church. Thomas Wilson, director of Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, and Kevin McChesney, composer of "Ring of Fire," a ground-breaking piece of orchestral music, celebrating handbells. |
